Not Silly!!

So apparently our little Porter doesnt think he is silly! But Kameron and I completely disagree. We went and tried the new restaurant in town Teakwoods, and Porter was our entertainment for the night! I told him no and when I shook my head...he mimicked me, which he is getting really good at. (I might need to start watching what I say and do because now he really is a sponge and is taking in everything that I do!) So I called him silly and he shook his head no. So we kept asking him over.....and over...and over "Are you silly Porter?" and he would say no. It was hilarious. We couldnt get enough of it. He has the cutest personality and even though we are his parents and everyone thinks their kids is the cutest....me and Kameron decided we really do have the cutest and funniest baby ever! We are so excited what his toddler years will bring.

On another note...here is a few pictures of our little character doing what he does best!

This is his new thing...Glaring at people!

I know this one is cut off...but the 80% you can see of his face I think says it all!
Gotta love them Zerberts!
Every picture I have...his clothes seem to be a disaster. He loves his baby food..he just doesnt like his bibs at all. So when something spills...it gets all over him. I used to try to avoid it...but having a boy I have come to learn, a mess is unavoidable!!
And last but not least.....
Porter looks like SUCH a toddler here it makes me so sad! My baby boy is not a baby anymore...and I think this picture proves it. Kameron and I cannot believe how fast he has grown, but we love everyday and seeing what fun he will bring into our home. Sorry for being all parenty on you guys, but if you have a kid you understand...and if you dont, well when you have one you will understand then!

Walking...

Porter has been trying to walk with his little walker for a few weeks now, and has finally mastered it. On the kitchen floor it still gets away from him every now and again, but for the most part he loves cruising all around the house. He just turned 10 months, so maybe by the time he is 1 he will be cruisin on his own!! He is such a big boy with a big personality.

P.S. At the end of the video he fell and cried...but he got right back up and kept walkin.

CHEEEEESE!!!

I have finally gotten a good picture of Porter's teeth! He is such a booger and will NEVER let me look in his mouth. This is the first smile he has given me that you can see TOP and bottom teeth where I was quick enough to catch it on film. He has 7 total and is continuing to get more. Its a good thing this kid is SO stinkin cute, because man has he been fussy! Poor little man, getting teeth is such a bummer!

"Girl" Spa Weekend

I am now back in the real world after a LONG relaxing weekend. My wonderful sister was nice enough to invite me on a "girls" weekend to the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale. She won the hotel stay at work, and I am so glad I was able to reap the benefits. We left friday night and started the weekend with dinner at Cheesecake Factory. YUMMY!! Then hung out at the bonfire they had outside the hotel in the courtyard next to the lake. It was freezing, but it was fun to just hang out and stay up late...okay I'll be honest...I probably wouldnt have stayed up THAT late, but I survived, and had fun. haha. Then saturday we went out to breakfast at the Good Egg, and did a little shopping. Later that day came my favorite part of the WHOLE weekend....The Agave Spa!! I have gotten a couple massages before, but it was nothing near to how great this was. It was out of a movie. We got robes and slippers and there were drinks and big comfy chairs. After the one hour massage we took full advantage of all the perks and sat in the Steam Room and Hot Tub for a good hour after that. We also showered there instead of our room because they had FABulous smelling shampoo and conditioner. I came home with a really bad habit....I cant wait to go back! (it will be a LONG time I am sure....but I AM going to go back some day!) After the 2 hours spent in the spa, we got ready and went out to dinner at a Mexican Restaurant....I cant remember the name. Here we are leaving the hotel to go to dinner:
I know that you didnt "approve" this picture Amy, but this is the only one I got of us...which is weird because I am usually so good at taking pictures. Anyways, but after dinner we were so tired and relaxed from the Spa we just went back to the hotel and went to bed. Oh and another funny thing that happened....we some how were lucky enough to get a handicap room. So we had a very interesting shower and we made jokes we would take turns pushing eachother in and out of the shower. lol. It was a really beautiful hotel, and here is the view from our balcony...
Even though the weather was wet most of the weekend, we still enjoyed it....but we met LOTS of disappointed people from ALL over that came there for some sun! O'well better luck to them next time.

Thanks to my wonderful husband who so graciously allowed me to go and enjoy myself while he was home watching Porter. And mostly to my oh so generous sister Amy! The weekend was a little out of my price range to say the least and thanks to an early birthday present, she made my day at the spa possible. We dont get to spend a whole lot of time together...especially one on one...since we live so far from eachother, but I am glad for the girl/sister time we had this weekend. Thanks Amy for inviting me along, and for helping me out with the massage! I really love and appreciate you for it!! And one day I will be able to do the same for you!

Triple Threat!

This post is going to consist of 3 postings...so hold onto your seat. First I am going to start off with explaining why today is such a special day. You see, 3 years ago Kameron and I were married...thats right, its our anniversary. And to celebrate the occasion, Kameron is at a presidency meeting and I am home blogging. haha. In light of this special day, I felt it only right to say a few things I love about my wonderful husband. Since its been 3 years I will only pick three things I love. (other wise the list would be too long for a tri-post such as this!)
#1) He is such a great helper! I hear so many women say their husbands NEVER cook, NEVER cleans, NEVER does laundry, NEVER changes a diaper, NEVER does anything but work and expect their wives to do everything else. Well ladies...I guess I am the lucky one. Because Kameron does all this and more. MUCH more. He is always willing to help with dishes, fetch a binkie, change a diaper...and so on. He even wakes up with Porter every saturday morning and lets me sleep in. (He is up anyways, he cant sleep in) Last week I woke up and the house was clean...it was fabulous. Its also his job to get Porter ready every sunday, and he always does it without complaint...well most of the time =).
2.) He doesnt complain when I go out without him...whether it be volleyball, going to a movie with a friend, going to get my hair done (which is a whole evening thing), or having a girls weekend...leaving him to watch Porter. He is such a GREAT dad! Porter has a special daddy smile as I call it. Kameron is the only one that gets it. I love that I never have to worry about leaving Porter with him, because he is probably better at remembering breathing treatments or antibiotics...which are a frequent in our house. He never calls to bug me when I am out with my friends...he is very self sufficient and never needs to ask me any questions about what to do. I guess this is the biggest perk of marrying the oldest child of 6! I am leaving all next weekend and he told me he "Double Dog Dared" me not to call and check in on him ALL weekend. Yeah like thats gonna happen. I will probably call every time we talk. haha.
3.) He is such a wonderful "provider" for our family. And I am not just talking about money. He provides our home with Love, Support, Laughter, and the most important the priesthood. His relationship with his heavenly father is so strong and I love that so much about him. He is always prepared and worthy to give a blessing. Always has the answer to a question I have regarding a lesson I am teaching...sometime not so helpful when he tells me to "just follow the spirit!" haha. And how he is SO great with people. Everyone he meets just loves him.

I am so lucky to call this man my husband and that he is the father to my son and our future children. He makes every day special. These three years have gone fast, and I look forward to the eternities to come. I love you babe!

Second blog update. Last night Kameron and I were able to go out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary...since it falls on a sunday. Our good friends Meagan and Abe were wonderful enough to watch Porter so we could have a dinner that didnt involve cheerios and screaming. Since it was a special occasion we went to our favorite restaurant Outback. We never get to eat there anymore because its way out of a price range. So we enjoyed every moment of the evening. I ate SO much I am literally sick to my stomach today. (it was SO worth it though) While Porter was at the graves he got his first battle wound. I teased Meagan that she was beating my child, but he is such a mess and is literally into EVERYTHING I knew that this was going to happen eventually. He tried to stand up on next to the corner of the cabinets and slipped....this is the damage:

This picture doesnt look that bad, but he got his head pretty good. Kameron was so proud of his little man's war wound!

Last but not least...my time in primary has come to an end. "But Gina, you only got called a few months ago!!" you say...well my friends, I guess I am needed else where. We got a call last week that Kameron and I BOTH had to meet with a member of the Bishopric...regarding me. I knew that it had to be something big. The only time we have had to go together to recieve a calling is when we have been called to a presidency of some sort. Well our suspicions were confirmed. I am now in the Young Women's presidency serving as the secretary. I am SO excited to serve with the youth. Since we got married I have wanted to work with the YW, and now I get my chance. I however and not too excited about the whole secretary thing...I am SO NOT a secretary. But this is probably why I got the calling. It will help me get more organized and as seen from the previous post, I must have has some previous inspiration to start before I even had to. The program is very small, there is only one (active) Beehive, 3 (active) Miamaids, and 1 (active) Laural. I am excited there are such few girls because that means I get to know each of the girls one on one. I had such great leaders when I was in YW, that I feel completely inadequate for the job. But I will do my very best to make them enjoy their experience in YW because this program will help set the tone for the rest of their life. I am so grateful for the blessings that our Heavenly Father gives to us...even though sometimes they are camoflauged. So if anyone has words of advise for me as I embark on this adventure, please feel free to share. All the advise the better.

Organization is the Key!

So I have taken the first step to get myself more organized!! Kameron and I are always asking eachother..."Do we have anything on the 17th?" and so on. Well now...we will know. I dont know how many times we have double booked something, or something last minute comes up because I totally spaced that I already had something planned. I dont know what it is with having a baby, but you seriously lose brain cells. With me atleast thats how it was. I was REALLY bad when I was pregnant. And if you dont believe me...here is an example..."One day I went to work, that morning I packed some left over pizza for lunch, somewhere in between my car and the 10th floor of my building...I LOST MY LUNCH. No I didnt get sick, I literally lost the bag of food! This upset me in more than one way you see. I couldnt believe that I was dumb enought to actually lose a bag of food...but the fact that I lost left over Dominos pizza...WITH the most delicious ranch dressing was far worse. And being pregnant...it was devistating news!!! I even back tracked steps right after I got to work...and it was NO WHERE!!" Its still a mystery to this day. But I kept telling myself that after I wasnt pregnant anymore, that I would return back to my normal self. Before I would never catogorize myself as an "airhead" or "spacie" person, but now I definately qualify. So if you plan something with me, make sure I write it down...because I more than likely will forget. haha. Hopefully this will help restore what brain cells that Kameron always told me the baby ate when I was pregnant. Yeah for being organized...now if only I could carry this organization thoery to the laundry room....

01 February 2008

I'm it....

I have been tagged by my friend Jayna. So here it goes....

10 YEARS AGO (JANUARY 1998)....

I was 12, and half way through 7th grade. (Thats makes me seen really young doesnt it?) I was playing basketball for Sierra Vista Middle School...Go Wildcats!! It was around this time that I had my very first boyfriend, Anthony. Which our relationship consisted of walking by eachother and waving, I think we hugged once, and then broke up through a note. haha. Kristen Barkdull moved to Sierra Vista. And we always said Burnt Stabadaymate (I have no clue how to spell that...its more of a weird noise). Okay Marlee and Mary Anne...I know you will find this HILARIOUS!! Oh and Mary Anne....remember Pinky the Pink Flamingo?? hahaha Good times.

5 THINGS ON MY TO-DO LIST....

Okay, so I am TERRIBLE at making lists, so this week I ran out of diapers because I forgot to get them while I was in town. So I told Kameron yesterday that I wanted a nice big calander to write all of my things on...because lately I feel like I have been SO busy. So I am going to turn over a new leaf...here is my list.

1.) Shower and get ready!! To all you non-mothers this seems like a pretty normal task. But for me atleast, getting ready (with a blowdryer and flat iron, topped with make-up) is SO hard with Porter. Maybe some kids are not as quick and mischevous as he is, but its hard. For instance...weds, Porter had a doctor appt, so I had to gate him in behind a pony wall that we have back in our living room so that he couldnt get into anything while I showered. When I got out of the shower I hear bloody screams coming from outside our door and low and behold this is what I see.......

He was screaming and shaking the gate like I had put him in jail. I guess he was looking into the living room and was VERY angry that I had blocked his way! I had to strap him into his chair and feed him a non stop flow of cheerios so I could ensure he wasnt getting into trouble and keep him in one place so I could finish and make it to atleast ONE dr appt on time!!
2.) Finish some loads of laundry that are WAYYYY overdue.
3.) Sweep and clean the floors....since it rained and we have lovely desert landscaping (I am talking Sahara Desert!!) Rex has brought in so much dirt...the evidence in all over Porter since he is now my child labor mop!!
4.) Clean my bathroom.
5.) Drink more water. I havent been drinking enough water, because when I do I feel TONS better!!

SNACKS I ENJOY....

I love chips and dip...of all sorts. Any gummy candy, so bad for my teeth...but they are a guilty pleasure. Making my own lunchable snack, balogna, cheese, and crackers.

IF I WERE A BILLIONAIRE...

I would buy vacation homes. One by the beach and one by the mountains. I would invest and make more money. Set up all my kids for life. Pay off my families debt. Tour all of Europe. Finally buy ALL my food storage. Donate money to those in need. And of course....GO SHOPPING! haha

3 BAD HABITS....

I asked Kameron about this because I wanted to know what he thought my bad habits were. And he could only come up with 2...so either he was being nice, or he really loves me. (I think he was being nice, haha)

1.) I bite at the inside of my lip. I have NO idea when I started doing this, and I dont know why I do it. I dont even notice when I am doing it. I have tried so hard to stop, but when I dont know I am doing it...it makes it a little more difficult to quit.
2.) I am SO bad at putting my bathroom things away. My sink in the bathroom ALWAYS has a blowdryer, flat iron, hair product, tweezers and what ever else I use to get ready. I only get ready average about once a week...why waste make up and damage my hair doing it every day. Its not like I ever go anywhere! Definately something for me to work on.
(these two are compliments of Kameron)
3.) I will have to say I use a LOT of cups. Whenever I change what I am drinking (water, juice)...I get a new cup. Instead of rinsing it out and using it again...I dont. So by the end of each day I probably use about 2 to 3 cups. I would save on my water bill if I didnt have to run the dishwasher every couple days.

5 PLACES I HAVE LIVED....

1.) Sierra Vista, AZ
2.) Gilbert, AZ
3.) Tempe, AZ
4.) Mesa, AZ
5.) Maricopa, AZ

5 JOBS I'VE HAD....

1.) Hostess/Server Outback Steakhouse
2.) Nanny
3.) Merchant Teller Wells Fargo
4.) C&C Operations Specialist FirstCorp
5.) Most importantly....Mother!!

5 THINGS PEOPLE DONT KNOW ABOUT ME....

1.) I still watch Saved by the Bell almost every morning...haha
2.) I have a pair of jeans that were my "cute butt" jeans when I was in HS and my first year of college. They havent fit me since then, but I still have them and try them on every once in a while. In hopes that they will one day fit again.
3.) I love seeing people jump. This is totally mean I know, but I get such a kick out of jumping out at Kameron, or honking the horn when he walks in front of the car, so I can watch him squirm. haha. I totally hate being scared, so I am such a hypocrite. But I can thank my father for that. He would jump out screaming wearing a gorilla mask or throw crickets at me to watch me scream and run. haha.
4.) I think I have said this before, but I dont know what else to say. I am really weird about my toes being painted. I like to have them painted with flowers or any other design on them. It makes my ugly feet look better. And you can tell how well people take care of themselves by looking at their toes.
5.) When I get a new piece of clothing, I will wear it over and over again until the new wears off. Like I got a new shirt with a giftcard I had a couple weeks ago, and everytime I got ready to go somewhere, I wore it. Sad I know. But since I dont get clothes all that often I get really excited when I do. So I always make sure its clean and wrinkle free so if I have to run to the grocery store...its ready. haha. (this only lasts a week or so)

Anyways, thats it. If you made it to the end you must have been REALLY bored. haha. So now I tag, Cara, Marlee, Mary Anne, and Kamarie!! Good luck ladies, some of these questions are harder than you will think!!
